DALL·E at a glance
DALL·E metadata explained
DALL-E images produced through ChatGPT and the OpenAI web tools normally carry Content Credentials, because OpenAI attaches a C2PA manifest to its generated images.
What ends up in the file
The manifest identifies the file as generated by an OpenAI model and is accompanied by an IPTC DigitalSourceType value that flags the content as trained algorithmic media. Together those two are the clearest machine readable AI marker you will find on a consumer image, which is exactly why they are also the first thing that platforms look for.
Removing it
Because the manifest is stored as a normal segment in the file, our image cleaner removes it along with the XMP and EXIF data. OpenAI has stated it does not consider C2PA on its own to be conclusive, precisely because it is this easy to strip.
