Adobe Firefly at a glance
Adobe Firefly metadata explained
Adobe drove the Content Credentials standard, so Firefly output is the most consistently labelled material you will come across.
What ends up in the file
Firefly attaches a C2PA manifest that names the generating model and records that the asset was produced with generative AI, and Adobe applications carry that manifest forward when you keep editing the file. The same infrastructure appears in Photoshop's generative features, so a partly AI edited photo can carry credentials describing exactly which steps were generative.
Removing it
The manifest is a segment in the file and disappears when the file is rewritten. Note that this defeats the purpose Adobe designed it for: if you want to keep the attribution intact, leave the file alone and only strip metadata from the copy you are sharing for privacy reasons.
