Hit an Exact KB Limit

Upload forms that refuse anything over 50 KB or 100 KB are the reason this tool exists. Enter the limit and you get a file that fits.

Nothing Is Uploaded

Your photo is decoded and re-encoded on a canvas inside your browser. It is never sent to a server, so ID scans and passport photos stay private.

Bulk and Unlimited

Drop in a whole folder, resize every file at once and download them together as a ZIP. No queue, no quota, no watermark.

Pixels or Percentage Too

Besides a file-size target you can set exact width and height, keep the aspect ratio, or simply scale everything to a percentage.

Resizing an Image to an Exact File Size

Most online forms do not ask you for a resolution - they ask for a file under a fixed number of kilobytes. Government portals, university applications, job boards and visa websites routinely cap a photo at 20 KB, 50 KB, 100 KB or 200 KB, and reject anything larger without telling you what to change. A modern phone photo is several megabytes, so it fails that check by a factor of fifty.

Quality Versus Dimensions

There are only two levers that make a JPEG smaller: lower the encoder quality, or use fewer pixels. Lowering quality first is almost always the better trade, because a 2000-pixel photo at moderate quality still looks sharper than a 400-pixel photo at maximum quality. This tool therefore searches for the highest quality that still fits your limit, and only starts scaling the image down when even the lowest usable quality is too large.

How the Tool Works

Your image is decoded into a canvas element, redrawn at the requested dimensions with high-quality smoothing, and re-encoded as JPEG, WEBP or PNG. For a size target the encoder quality is found with a binary search: eight encodes are enough to land within a fraction of a percent of your limit. Because canvas and the encoders are built into the browser, nothing is uploaded, there is no file-size limit and the whole thing works offline once the page has loaded.
