Is my folder structure kept?

Yes. When you drop or select a folder, every image keeps its relative path, including all subfolders. You get the same tree back in a folder with -compressed added to its name, as one ZIP file or saved straight to disk, so you can compare it with the original and put it back in place. Keep a backup of the originals until you have checked the result.

How many images can I compress at once?

Up to 10,000 images per batch. The practical limit is the memory of your device, because the compressed files are kept until you download them. For very large batches, Save to folder in Chrome and Edge writes the files to disk without building one big ZIP file.

Do the file names stay the same?

With the output format Same as original, every file keeps its exact name and extension. When you convert to WebP, JPG or PNG, only the extension changes. If two files would end up with the same name, a number is added to the second one.

Why are some files marked as original kept?

Some images are already optimized so well that compressing them again would make them larger. With the option Keep the original when the result is not smaller switched on, those files are copied unchanged, so nothing in your batch ever grows.

Which formats are supported?

JPG, PNG, WebP, GIF, BMP, AVIF, HEIC and TIFF, also inside ZIP files. The output is JPG, PNG or WebP. Animated GIF, WebP and PNG files are kept unchanged, so their animation is not lost.

What happens to EXIF metadata such as the GPS location?

By default it is removed, which makes files smaller and safer to publish. Turn on Keep EXIF data to copy the original EXIF block into the JPG output; the orientation is corrected so photos stay upright. Files that are kept as original keep all their metadata.

Which output format should I choose?

Same as original is the safest choice for website folders, because nothing needs to be renamed. WebP usually gives the smallest files and keeps transparency. JPG is best for photos that must work everywhere, and PNG is lossless, which suits screenshots and graphics but rarely makes files much smaller.
